Every year the Scottish Government releases liquor licensing statistics and those for 2015 -16 have just been issued and can be found here: http://www.gov.scot/Topics/Statistics/Browse/Crime-Justice/PubLiquor/LiquLic201516 The figures are given globally but are also broken down by Board areas.
Headline figures (with last year’s figures in brackets) include:
Premises Licences – national statistics
- Premises licences in force as of 31 March 2016:
- 16,704 (16,663)
- 5,110 (5,096) - off sales only (i.e. 30.59%)
- Applications received during 2015 -16:
- 464 (438)
- of which on sales: 274 (258) (59.05%); and
- off sales only: 188 (180) (40.94%)
- applications refused: 23 (15)
- applications granted: 401 (435)
- Review application outcomes:
- Written warning: 48 (28)
- Variation: 13 (19)
- Suspension: 26 (24)
- Revocation: 74 (44)
- No action: 44 (73)
- Occasional licences granted during 2015 -16:
- 24,778 (22,801)
Personal Licences – national statistics
- Personal licences in force as of 31 March 2016:
- 54,603 (50,263)
- Applications made during 2015 -16:
- Refused: 27 (22)
- Granted: 7,260 (6,924)
- Notice of conviction hearing outcomes:
